FIRES AND COLLECTIVE AWARENESS: let’s protect the planet!

In the last 20 years, fires worldwide have doubled due to causes ranging from climate change to fire setting.

Regardless of the nature of the fires, the consequences that these entail damage the environment because there is a permanent loss of oxygen and a temporary loss of air quality, wood production and climate stabilization.

An example of a very dangerous fire occurred on April 13th 2023 in Bastia Umbria where the shop Maury’s got burnt down.

After a few weeks the causes aren’t known yet but the hypothesis taken into account is both intentional and culpable.

Selling household goods, the business proved to be particularly dangerous as it was full of plastic, paper and flammable products inside, which led to the evacuation of the nearest buildings.

The consequences directly affect the store employees who are currently out of work.

In addition the Mayor of Bastia has imposed restrictions on those living within 500m from the store, including the consumption of food products grown in the area, as well as outdoor sports activities. The Mayor has also invited people to keep windows closed in case of smoke until investigations are completed.

I think this has helped realize how unpleasant events like this can occur so close to us and not just “on television” or “in the newspapers”, increasing our sense of responsibility.

It is therefore important that everyone knows what to do to prevent fires and what they entail because they are extremely harmful to our health and the environment.

Among the various forms of attention we should have, there are apparently banal things such as not to light fires in the woods or not to throw cigarette butts on the ground, and less common things like the replacement of solvent-based paints with water-based ones.

If we were all aware of the dangers that fires entail and if there was greater awareness, on the part of those responsible, about this topìc, the situation could certainly be better.

Considering now all the fires that occur every year, with respective damages, and which are not talked about enough, is there really a future for our future?

INCENDI E CONSAPEVOLEZZA COLLETTIVA: salvaguardiamo il pianeta!

Negli ultimi 20 anni gli incendi in tutto il mondo sono raddoppiati per cause che spaziano dal cambiamento climatico all’ appiccamento volontario del fuoco. 

Indipendentemente dalla natura delle fiamme, le conseguenze che queste comportano danneggiano l’ambiente poiché si ha una perdita permanente di ossigeno e una perdita temporanea di qualità dell’aria, di produzione legnosa e di stabilizzazione climatica.

Un esempio di incendio molto pericoloso si è verificato il 13 aprile 2023 a Bastia Umbra dove il negozio Maury’s è bruciato.

A distanza di settimane non si conoscono ancora le cause, ma sono tenute in considerazione ipotesi sia dolose che colpose.

Vendendo articoli per la casa, l’esercizio si è rivelato particolarmente pericoloso, poiché ricco, al suo interno, di plastica, carta e prodotti infiammabili. Ciò ha comportato l’evacuazione degli edifici più vicini.

Le conseguenze riguardano in prima persona i dipendenti del negozio che si trovano attualmente senza lavoro. Altri effetti prodotti dall’incendio sono comprensibili attraverso l’ordinanza pubblicata dal sindaco di Bastia che impone limitazioni a coloro che si trovano nel raggio di 500 m dal negozio. Essa vieta, infatti, di consumare prodotti alimentari coltivati nella zona, limita le attività ludico sportive all’aria aperta e infine invita a tenere chiuse le finestre in caso di fumo fino ad accertamenti conclusi.

Credo che ciò sia servito alle persone a rendersi conto di quanto eventi sgradevoli come questo possano verificarsi tanto vicino a noi e non solo “in televisione” o “sui giornali”, aumentando il nostro senso di responsabilità.

Dunque è importante che ognuno sappia cosa fare per prevenire gli incendi e tutto ciò che essi comportano, poiché sono estremamente dannosi sia per la comunità che per l’ambiente.

Tra le principali forme di attenzione da adottare troviamo cose apparentemente banali, come non accendere fuochi nei boschi o non gettare mozziconi di sigarette a terra, e cose meno comuni come la sostituzione di vernici a base di solventi con altre a base d’acqua.

Se fossimo tutti consapevoli del pericolo che gli incendi comportano e se ci fosse una maggiore sensibilizzazione da parte di chi di dovere rispetto a questa tematica, la situazione potrebbe sicuramente essere migliore.

Considerando ora tutti gli incendi che si verificano ogni anno, con i rispettivi danni, e di cui non si parla mai abbastanza, c’è davvero futuro per il nostro futuro?
